LANIGAN SUFFERS
CONCUSSION IN SEASON-ENDING WEEKEND...
(November
6, 2020) The Viper Motorsports team and
driver Darrell Lanigan ventured to the pristine Dirt Track at
Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina for a pair of midweek specials
on November 4-5. The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late
Model Series wrapped up their 2020 season with the 'Last Call'
and a pair of $12,000 top prizes were up for grabs. On Wednesday
night at the Charlotte-area speedplant, Darrell clicked off
the thirteenth fastest lap in Group A during qualifying, but
was unfortunately caught up in a couple of different incidents
in his heat race. The last of which sent him hard into the outside
retaining wall and forced the #29 team to scratch for the remainder
of the night.
Another $12,000 winner's check was then on the
line at the 4/10-mile oval in the WOOLMS season finale on Thursday
evening. Unfortunately, Darrell complained of headaches and
went to a local hospital where he was diagnosed with having
a concussion from Wednesday's heat race incident. The Union,
Kentucky native skipped the season finale and dropped to sixth
in the final national touring series point standings. Complete
results from both season-ending 'Last Call' programs can be

ROSS BAILES COLLECTS
$10,000 FOR FIRST SPRING NATIONALS WIN!
(May
18, 2019)
Ross Bailes has undoubtedly become one of the hottest drivers
in the Southeast this season as he captured his first-career
Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Sunoco
Race Fuels payday Saturday Night at Thunderhill Raceway Park
in Summertown, Tenn. Bailes picked up the $10,000 payday during

BAILES LEADS ALL
THE WAY EN ROUTE TO FIRST WOOLMS VICTORY!
(May
3, 2019)
Eleven races into 2019 and the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings
Late Model Series has their first first-time winner of the season.
Ross Bailes picked up the win and beat the Outlaws for $10,000
in front of his home-state crowd on Friday night at the Cherokee
Speedway. Brandon Sheppard yet again scored another second-place
finish, after starting fifth and chasing Bailes throughout the
latter part of the race. Don O’Neal had a solid showing
as well, coming from ninth and climbing to third after battling
with Chris Madden and Brandon Overton.
It was almost a perfect night for the Clover,
SC-native, as he picked up the PFC Brakes Fast Time Award, won
his Drydene heat race, redrew the outside pole and led all 50
laps of the Morton Buildings Feature. But it certainly was no
cakewalk, as Bailes had the Rocket1 Racing ride of Sheppard
knocking on his door for over half of the race.
Sheppard started out steady, passing a car for position here
and there before finally making the move around Madden for second
on lap 17. It was at that moment Sheppard began to track down
the Bailes Construction #87. Several restarts presented opportunities
for Sheppard to make the move, but to no avail. Until the final
10 laps…
Bailes said he initially didn’t see the
#1 of Sheppard stick his nose underneath. A late restart put
Sheppard right on the Barry Wright house car’s rear bumper,
and despite “The Rocket Shepp’s” best efforts,
Bailes was able to ride the high line and hold off Sheppard’s
heavy pressure! (Blake Harris Photo)

ROSS BAILES SCORES

to earn his fifth career victory with the Ultimate Southeast
Tour. Casey Roberts, Brett Hamm, Trent Ivey, and Zack Mitchell
rounded out the top five finishers.
Early in the race Bailes had a scare in lap traffic
in which allowed Casey Roberts to close the gap and pull alongside
of Bailes to challenge for the lead, but Bailes was able to
maintain the lead. During the closing laps and three tenths
faster than the leader; Roberts was able to close the gap once
again right up to the rear bumper of Bailes, but couldn't make
the pass.

ROSS BAILES ROLLS
TO FIRST LUCAS OIL SERIES VICTORY AT 411!
(April
5, 2019)

Dirt Series victory on Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway. The

Bailes took the lead at the start of the race,
withstood several cautions, and managed to hold off a late race
charge from three other drivers to become the sixth different
winner of the 2019 season. Donald McIntosh took second over
Jimmy Owens. Current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point
leader, Jonathan Davenport finished in fourth followed by Dale
McDowell.
“This seems unbelievable,” said Bailes.
“We have tried for so long to win one of these and we
just couldn’t get it done. To come to a new place like
this and to get it done here is just unimaginable. I felt good
on the bottom and then when I got to lapped traffic I was slowing
down. I knew I needed to search around and do something different.
My crew guys told me to move up and when I did the car felt
really good up there.”
Bailes added: “This place is awesome. I
think if we would have run another 50 laps it would have been
even better. I was happy with it. There was grip on the bottom
. I didn’t have to worry about the top for the first half
of the race and then it got racy all over. This win is now at
the top of my list for sure. Maybe we can get another one tomorrow
night at North Georgia. I want to thank Barry and Lance Wright,
Ronnie McCarter and all of my crew it was a great team win that’s
for sure.”
